Alisa Vetter Owens

Habitual Health and Aspen SPEED were founded in 2011 on a simple belief: lasting health is built through consistent daily habits. Sustainable improvements in strength, mobility, nutrition, and overall wellbeing come from small, intentional changes practiced over time.

ABOUT

I’m a wellness and performance specialist based in Aspen–Snowmass, with over 20 years of experience helping clients move better, build strength, and feel their best.

My work is rooted in a simple, refined approach—integrating strength training, movement, nutrition, and lifestyle habits to create results that are not only effective, but sustainable. The goal is not just short-term change, but long-term vitality, resilience, and performance.

MY APPROACH

True health is not built through extremes. It’s built through consistency, intention, and a thoughtful approach to how you train, fuel, and live.

I work with clients through a personalized combination of strength training, nutrition counseling, yoga, Pilates, and functional movement, alongside lifestyle strategies that support energy, recovery, and overall well-being.

Every program is designed to fit seamlessly into your life—so that feeling better becomes something that lasts, not something you have to constantly chase.

MY STORY

My approach is deeply shaped by my own experience. After being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2008, I spent years navigating symptoms and searching for lasting solutions. What I discovered was that there wasn’t one single answer—but rather a combination of consistent, intentional habits.

By focusing on nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and reducing everyday environmental exposures, I began to see meaningful change. Over time, my symptoms improved, my energy returned, and I felt a sense of control over my health again.

I’ve now been symptom- and medication-free since 2015.

That experience continues to inform my work today. It reinforced a belief I now see consistently with clients: when you support the body properly and reduce what works against it, it has the ability to function—and perform—at a much higher level.

EXPERIENCE

I hold a Master of Science in Nutrition and Public Health from Columbia University and a degree in Health and Exercise Science from The College of New Jersey, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude.

I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), with additional training in yoga, Pilates, functional movement, and pre- and postnatal fitness and nutrition.

My background includes teaching high school health and physical education and coaching track and field, followed by 14 years as Corporate Wellness Manager at Aspen Skiing Company, where I developed and led wellness initiatives supporting over 3,700 employees.

CURRENT WORK

Through my practice, Habitual Health, I work with clients both in person and virtually, offering a highly personalized approach that integrates training, nutrition, and lifestyle.

I specialize in personal training, nutrition counseling, yoga, Pilates, and functional movement, helping clients build strength, improve performance, and feel better in a way that is both elevated and realistic.

YOUTH & PERFORMANCE

Through Aspen Speed, I work with young athletes to build speed, agility, quickness, change of direction, strength, coordination, and confidence.

My SPEED Training program focuses on developing strong movement patterns and athletic foundations, while helping kids build habits that support both performance and long-term health.

WOMEN’S HEALTH

As a mother of two daughters, I have a strong focus on women’s health across all stages of life. My own experience with fertility, pregnancy, and two home births has shaped how I support women through training, nutrition, and lifestyle during prenatal, postpartum, and beyond. I hold a Pronatal certification and continue to expand my education in perimenopause and post-menopause.

PHILOSOPHY

At the core of everything I do is a simple belief: You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel better. You need a thoughtful, consistent approach that supports your body, your goals, and your lifestyle.
