Clean Living: What You Put On and Around Your Body Matters
New here? Start with Part 1: Clean Living: Where to Start Without Overhauling Your Life
Let’s talk about the stuff you don’t eat—but still use every single day.
Your lotion, deodorant, shampoo, cleaning sprays… all of it.
Your skin isn’t a wall. It’s more like a sponge.
And many conventional products contain ingredients your body has to process in some way.
Before you panic—don’t.
We’re not throwing everything out.
We’re being strategic.
Start with what you use most often.
Deodorant, lotion, body wash, laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaner.
Look for shorter ingredient lists and fewer synthetic fragrances.
You don’t need perfection—you just want better.
This was another piece of the puzzle for me. As I started swapping out products over time, I wasn’t expecting dramatic changes from any one thing—but collectively, these small shifts helped reduce the overall burden on my body. And that’s really when things started to feel different in a consistent, sustainable way.
And your house does not need to smell like a fake lemon explosion to be clean.
Same goes for personal care—there are plenty of options now that actually work.
The key is consistency, not intensity.
Swap things out as you run out.
That’s how you make this sustainable.
And if you want help figuring out what matters most and how to make these changes without overwhelm, reach out to me for a health coaching session.
Because clean living isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about making smarter choices, consistently.
